Unleashing the Heart's Rage

Writer: Pamela StewartPamela Stewart

ok so...

Doing it for our kids.
Doing it for our kids.

We are at the infancy of our activism and response to what is going on. We all have a role to play and all sorts of little actions, when compounded, can have deep impact. Good news.

I'm entirely thrilled to see that for the most part, we are all sharing information, supporting what others have to say and making personal decisions based on our level of privilege and capacity to handle the changes. I want us to all keep doing this, because it's important to understand that we can't all change the way we live with broad sweeping strokes, for whatever reason, and to employ empathy and understanding of meeting people where they are.

The decisions are hard and complicated. Let's acknowledge it. Big box stores owned by massive US companies employ Canadians and it feels so wrong that massive exodus will impact our own people. Leaving Amazon completely will leave independent Canadian sellers on the platform without sales and negatively impact their businesses. I'm still posting and using Facebook because I can't figure out where to go that will still allow me to promote and get registrations for my workshops, and will be devastated to lose connections I have built up over decades to people who have been important in my life throughout the years. These are just a few of myriad examples.

BUT after just the ONE WEEK we have had, I think we need to accept discomfort in lieu of changing in ways that can have positive outcomes.

Capitalism is crumbling. Democracy, certainly, has already suffered massive blows and arguably doesn't exist for now in the United States. Beyond this initial shock of what the fuck the orange monster and his cronies are trying to pull, lie the next steps that have potential to be disastrous in ways I don't even want to express.

We the people. We need to stand for all and for each other and for the earth as a whole.

We need ALL levels of our current democratic societies around the globe - allies in the pursuit of inclusion, love and acceptance and understanding what is most important and how we are all connected - to activate and MOVE QUICKLY and publicly.

I love that I am hearing from those in my networks about what they are doing on a micro level. That's important, certainly. But I need to hear more about what our leaders are doing, collectively. If the Despicables can be blatantly bold and fearless in the crazy shit they are announcing and doing, so can we, and our leaders can galvanize US TO BE PART OF IT. And by leaders, I mean world leaders, not just national leaders.

I'm ready to go places, protest things, write things, fund things but I need some direction. WHO, WTO, UN, NATO, G20, EU...whatcha going to do? How are YOU going to leverage the media and all the self-publishing platforms to encourage the masses to take action? Help us understand what we can be doing EFFECTIVELY with our energy to take action. USE these communication tools. We can band together quickly if you help us to do so...

We gotta shut this shit down before massive numbers of beautiful and innocent individuals suffer more. We need to rebuild society. I won't like it. You won't like it. It's going to be HIGHLY inconvenient. But I will do it because I believe things can be so much better than this constructed and manufactured mess lead almost exclusively by the almighty manufactured dollar and by a super sick privileged few.

I want better for my children - oh god my kids are inheriting this... - It's utter insanity.

My heart hurts. But I'm also very strong and very, very angry. I need places to apply that anger constructively, and while I'd love to escape into nature and my art (and will do so intermittently to remain fucking sane), the time is NOT NOW to retreat.
